Three different approaches to delimitation of functional somatic disorders: DanFunD
نویسندگان
چکیده
The Danish Study of Functional Disorders (DanFunD) approaches functional somatic disorders (FSD) with three delimitations: Five syndromes (FSS), Bodily Distress Syndrome (BDS), and eight data-driven symptom profiles (SP). This paper presents each delimitation discusses optimal for further original research into FSD epidemiology. A total 9656 adults from the general population participated in this cross-sectional study. Case assignment delimitations was based on self-reported questionnaires. Overlap FSS, BDS, SP their association poor self-perceived health were calculated as descriptive statistics shown Venn diagrams. Difference between participants severe compared no risk ratios generalized linear models binomial family log link. We found pronounced overlaps any multiple symptoms well multi-organ BDS all symptoms. Symptoms related to clusters musculoskeletal contributed particularly did categories Each has its strengths weaknesses, study, we offer a contribution more valid FSD. Future within DanFunD other epidemiological studies may benefit using than just one capturing diverse nature

Accordingly, the pr...
متن کاملFunctional genomics approaches to understanding brain disorders.
The completed draft of the human genome sequence has facilitated a revolution in neuroscience research. This sequence information and the development of new technologies used to analyze gene expression on a genomic scale provides a new and powerful means to investigate brain disorders of unknown etiology and to isolate novel drug targets for these disorders. The term functional genomics broadly...
متن کاملCurrent Approaches to the Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders
Functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGD), namely, functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGID) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), are always in the focus of gastroenterol-ogists, because of their polymorphic symptomatology and insufficiently defined causes and habits that influence the appearance of FGD. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional gastrointestinal disorder (FGID) charact...

متن کاملDifferent approaches to relating genotype to phenotype in developmental disorders.
In this article, we discuss the complex problem of relating genotype to phenotype and challenge the simple mapping of genes to higher level cognitive modules. We examine various methods that have been used to investigate this relation including quantitative genetics, molecular genetics, animal models, and in-depth psychological and computational studies of developmental disorders. Both single g...
